Kelly-Marie Stewart with with her onscreen brother Zac Ramsey and Michaela McQeen
Finding the man or woman of your dreams is never easy, but it can be even trickier if you're physically disabled. In Willing and Able Hollyoaks actress and wheelchair user Kelly-Marie Stewart takes a frank look at the prejudices and challenges young disabled people face dating and having relationships and tells her own story of becoming disabled at 21.
We follow Karen, a wheelchair user on a night out in Edinburgh as she tries to find a club with the right access and we hear from Adara who's partially sighted and has to rely on his mates to tell him if the girl he's chatting up 'is worth the bother'.
What about sex? The Director of Education of Treloar residential college in Hampshire tells us why staff help some of the physically disabled students, who are in relationships, into positions where they can have sex if they want to.
Willing and Able also looks at common reactions to the idea of dating someone who's disabled.
"I would worry about the burden of people seeing an able-bodied person with a disabled person and thinking it's a bit weird, they shouldn't be together."
"It depends on the disability."
"I would find it hard to fall in love with them .. Say someone in a wheelchair.. It would really put a strain on my personal life."
