Toms: This time it's different

David Toms may have set a major-record low score 10 years ago but does not expect a similar story at the Atlanta Athletic Club this time around.

It is a decade since the popular American aced the 15th on the way to a 15-under-par total of 265 at the venue - the best score ever in a major - to win the USPGA Championship.

But with the course having been revamped and extended in 2006, Toms believes the winning score will be a lot lower.

"Scoring won't be like it was last time, not even close I don't think," he said. "Par is going to be a good score on almost every hole this time around, a little bit different to last time.

"But you never know. Some of these guys that bomb the ball, if they have a great week driving, the distance they can hit it, maybe.

"But I would think that, somewhere along the way, the golf course is going to get you. You just have to be consistent. I think a lot of times you're going to be playing for pars rather than playing aggressively.

"In the end, after 72 holes, I don't think you'll see as many birdies made."
