What was the political party of most Confederates during the Civil War?

We're not sure if they were Whigs or Democrats. Does anyone know which political party they were? Thanks

The democrats are the old Southern States and Ku Klux Klan and Republicans were the Northern States. That´s why I think it´s hypocracy to only blame racist parties in Europe that has changed, claiming they are the same as they were several years ago but not blaming the Democrats, which actually officially supported racist terror and slavery.

The political parties back then where different the south was more democratic as they where farmers and looking for more rights but the Republicans where more open and more for the north because of industry and growth. it fliped floped later on but the ideology also was different back then.

Before the south succeded there where some called dixiecratics this came bigger after the civil war.

I forget the differece in the party platforms but i remember in Ap government learning that the modern day parties are different to those in the Civil war era they shorta of filped flop postions.


Ku Klux Klan was not the north it was in the south with the jim crow laws actually during the Civil war the Ku Klux Klan was a brigade helping fight for the south. But they where not orinated as a official CSA military brigade.
